Stories from the first week

So it is amusing that after only one week back to school I already have some good stories.

So in our middle school this year we have implemented some stricter rules to keep the kids in line and keep them more responsible.

Now anybody who has ever been through a teaching program knows that it is common practice to be really strict the first couple weeks of school and hammer home the expectations. So that is what I have been doing. Much more then I did last year.

So I have been really strict with the kids, no joking around. All serious, all the time, and piling on the homework.

So some of the teachers I work with could hear me yelling at the 8th graders one day and were teasing me about how strict I have been.

Now to the actual story:
The kids were all give a paper with 10 hall passes to staple into their assignment notebooks. So I have one 7th grader who is incredibly unorganized and always forgets things in his locker all the time. So on like the second or third day of school he comes up to me and asks me to write him a pass. As I do this I notice that his pass page isn't stapled into his assignment notebook. I tell him to staple it in or else he will likely lose it.

Fast forward to the end of that day at dismissal. A student finds one of these pass pages on the floor and hands it to me. There is no name on it, so I take it with the intention of throwing it away. As the teachers and I are waiting for dismissal to wrap up I show them the pass that I found. So one of them asks me if I am going to be nice and return it to the child, or be cold hearted and throw it away. I said I would not return it not to mention the fact that I didn't know who it belonged to.

After closer examination we realized that it belonged to the unorganized child who I already warned about losing this paper. This gave us a big laugh because out of all the kids he probably needs the passes the most. But he's fairly annoying so I didn't feel sympathetic about his loss.

(Is a funnier story when you know this kid)

After this situation one of the teachers started calling me steel heart.

So at a meeting we had with out assistant principal last week they were tellin him this story and kept calling me steel heart. He thought it was hilarious and kept saying 'that's it, you're steel heart'

It ends up being a very ironic story because of dear heart. So moms dear heart and I get a completely opposite nickname. Especially funny because the people at school don't know about 'dear heart'.

That's all for now. Hope you guys found that as amusing as it has been for us this week.

I have my moments

I like to think that I am a patient person. I deal with smartalec twelve year olds for a living, which requires a lot of patience. In general I feel like I am able to show a great deal of restraint when I am irritated and go with the flow when need be.

But sometimes, I have my moments.

It tends to come on suddenly every now and then. Tonight it came from a random question, and my sister very kindly rearranging something just for me.

Sarah was going to have Tommy's birthday party on the same weekend as Marks cousins wedding in Ohio. I am sad to miss his birthday because he is soo darn cute and I see him so infrequently. So she kindly thought that if she had his birthday on Wednesday I could go to Ohio from Detroit.

A kind offer as it was,it changes the rest of the families plans for going up to Detroit. But all I could think about is Mark. How does he factor into this? He is supposed to be moving out here permanently soon. If so, he would be unable to go to Detroit mid week because he would have to work.

But I have been hearing that he would be moving out here in two weeks all summer. It isn't through any fault of his own, his bosses just haven't been as complimentary as one would hope. To be honest over the last few months I have become quite resentful towards them. Especially when my husband who never sends text messages sends me a text telling me to find him a new job. It messes with my emotions too when he is so frustrated as well.

I wonder if Marks bosses even realize how difficult this past year has been for us, or if they even care. Sad to question that when the bosses are my brothers in law. I get resentful about it and dont even think ill be able to stand the sight of them when I see them next.

So I have my moments. Sometimes one little thing like my sisters kind offer just triggers one little nerve and suddenly my stable patience is gone. And all of the sudden I am sad and lonely. So I come home and fix myself a drink and wonder when it will all be okay again.

I think mark and I have a great marriage, and have shown a lot of strength through the last year. It has not been easy and we knew that coming in, but it was never supposed to be this long. My patience is running low.

I know that tomorrow is a new day. I will go for a run, go to meeting.  I will come home and make some delicious Italian beef, and work on some more school stuff. I know that my head will readjust and I will get a hold on my patience again and suck it up again.

But for now I am having my moment, and I think I'll go fix another drink.

Home

Sometimes there is something so small and so simple that just gives me that feeling of 'home', one of those random things that is so comfortable and so normal to my life that I don't think about it much.

Tonight my cousins wife Angie turned thirty. They had a little get together. When I walked in my cousin Kim said 'hi Meg'. Angie was a few drinks in but when she saw me gave me a big hug and said 'hey Meg!'.
When I was saying goodbye to my cousin Steve he said 'Bye Meg'.

When Angie took me around and introduced me to her friends I didn't know she kept saying 'this is my friend Meg'.
One of her friends said 'Nice to meet you Meg'
It felt and sounded so weird!!! For all of my life for as long as I can remember my cousins have always called me Meg. Nobody else calls me Meg but my cousins. they call me Meg and sometimes Meggy. My sisters dont even call me Meg. My friends tend to call me Megs. So when I get called just Meg it gives me that 'home' feeling.
I love it. So happy to be be Meg and to be at home.

Spring has sprung!

Finally!! Spring finally made its appearance!!!! Only took till the end of April to show up, but I am sure happy it's finally here! Steady temps averaging in the 60's with a few warmer days mixed in. I love it!!! It makes me Sooo happy!  It is so nice to see the sun shining a lot more! Also the trees are finally starting to blossom so everything is green again and that dreary winter is behind us!
I've been spending more time outside. I've already gone golfing once, running several times, and have walked with mom a lot.
The European Market just opened and is every Saturday till the fall.  I bought some fresh herbs there to grow on my little patio. I've also been able to get outside at school too! You've got to love a school that encourages teachers to take the kids outside! I love it!

As ready as I am for the end of the year, I definitely love my job. Next week I get to take a few kids to Washigton DC!! I am so excited and am soo gonna be in my ultimate nerd zone.
Plus out here in Indiana elementary and middle schools have what is called 'field day'. It is basically a day at the end of the year where the entire school spends an entire day competing in silly games and just generally having fun. Our school determined the middle school was a little too old for this, so instead we get to spend a day at the beach. Ummm have I mentioned that I love my job???
On top of that, one of the middle school electives is a science club that is all about Eco awareness. For this class some kids were doing a project to promote physical well being or something. They are going to have an all middle school game of capture the flag for an entire day at the end of the year. Again have I mentioned that I love my job? I get to sit outside and watch kids play capture the flag for an entire day. Love it!

Another reason why I love my job is because my school has been taking teacher appreciation week very seriously. Yesterday every teacher got dinner to take home. Chili, salad, and corn bread. And it was enough to feed an entire family. Plus we were given tshirts with our school logo and on the back it said "my boss thinks I'm kind of a big deal". Funny, it made me laugh. Today instead of dismissing students we got to have a yoga class. Tomorrow we get to leave early. Yup, I am loving my school a lot this week.

I don't know what else to say other then I am pretty happy with life right now. I guess that's it and hope you are all enjoying spring as much as I am!

If you ask me how I'm doing
I would say I'm doing just fine
I would lie and say that you're not on my mind

Lies! All lies!

I'd like to take a moment to write an ode to everyone's favorite groundhog Phil.
-for my California readers who live in nice weather year round, you might not know about Phil. On Feb 2 he comes out of his little hole and if he sees his shadow and runs back into his hole it means 6 more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow, it will be an early spring.

So with that knowledge in hand I give you my little ode to Phil.

Phil, Phil, you darling little squirrel
(Oops I mean groundhog)
When you scurried out of your hole
On that hallowed Feb day
You looked and you looked
You scoured around but just couldn't see
That friend of a shadow that you typically see
Hurray hurray for an early spring!
The people cheered at the thought that spring was near
But those weeks began to pass
And winter stayed winter and cold stayed cold
Lies!!! Lies I tell you Phil is all lies!!!
You blasted little rascal you lied to the world!!
Spring is not here and it doesn't seem near!
You lied Phil, you lied. Excited for spring and its not yet here. Way to Dash my dreams you stinking squirrel!
-the end!

I am itching for spring! It's staying lighter later, and it makes me wanna be able to run outside and enjoy this light that I feel like I haven't seen in 4 months. My body is itching for spring. I can feel it in my bones, this longing to get outside and go for a run, and enjoy the warmth. I want to leave that gloom that winter casts over everything! Even the birds think it should be spring!
In the winter, the birds stop chirping. You just don't hear them at all in the winter. Yes they can be seen flying around from time to time, but you don't hear a peep.
The past week or so walking out to the car in the morning I have heard a few little chirps. Even though its 30 degrees those couple of chirps tell me they want spring to come too.
I'm itching for spring. I'm longing, hoping, yearning desperately ready for its return.

Spring is my favorite season because it feels like such a new warm beginning.

Feeling Nostalgic

Hey kids.

I have had this really strange feeling come over me lately that I don't really know how to describe other than nostalgia.  This little feeling was brought on by an  invitation I received on facebook a few weeks back.  The story starts about oh I don't know 17 years ago.  Way back when I was a little 11 year old girl getting excited to start middle school.  I took piano lessons for a couple years in elementary school.  But when I was making the transition from elementary to middle school I knew I wanted to quit the piano lessons and join the band in middle school.  So that is what I did.  Because my district had an amazing music program, the high school had a day for the elementary kids to go in and try out all of the instruments so they could decide what to play in middle school.
My dad took me in and I tried out the french horn, and the clarinet. I couldn't decide between the two.  We asked the high school director what he thought.  He thought I'd be good on the french horn he said because I had a good ear.  In the end, I ignored him and chose the clarinet.

So it began, for the next 7 years I played the clarinet.  I liked it.  I loved band.  I loved the music.  I loved that all of my friends were in band with me.  So life continued, and I grew up.  By the time I made it to high school band, there were 4 concert bands (one for each grade level, with really good underclassmen in the upper bands). There were two band directors who were polar opposite personalities.  Mr. Rosario (who conducted the freshman and junior bands) was a goofy Puerto Rican who was obsessed with John Williams music, and always had a movie score for us to play.  His walls were also plastered in Star Wars posters.  He was fun. The other director, Mr. Pritchett was stern, and seriously, and not to be crossed, or tested.  His daughter Katie was in my grade.  He was a great conductor, and knew how to get the best out of us.

So high school moves on and I come to my senior year.  By this point in time, I somehow got this strange belief deep within me that I had no reason to stay friends with my high school friends after high school.  I knew who my "real" friends were.  They were my christo friends who I had always had a deeper connection with than anyone of my friends from school.  So I kept most of them at arms length, and I even grew apart from a few of them then.  But the people at school I was close with were all in band with me from 6th grade through senior year.

When we were juniors we knew our band was good.  Not just good, but exceptional.  Each year there is a state music competition for band.  Junior year we got perfect scores in all but one category and missed going to the state final by a tiny margin.  This was unheard of for a schools "secondary" band.

One of my most embarrassing life moments came in front of the whole band.  At our school if you were in band, you were automatically the marching band.  If we weren't forced to do marching band, our school wouldn't have had a marching band.  So our first day of marching band practice of my senior year there was pizza for everybody after practice.  Mr. P dismissed all of the seniors first.  Being so excited about finally being seniors my friends and I started walking inside.  Me, upon being so excited about being a senior, was excitedly talking to my friends and not paying attention to what I was doing tripped and fell on the curb. Embarrassing, yes.  I could hear the rest of the underclassman behind me laughing, and my friends were also giggling at my clumsiness as well.  But when I stood up I knew something was wrong.  My knee was bleeding so I hobbled to the bathroom and when there realized my ankle was swollen like crazy.  I limped back into the band room showed my friends my ankle.  Without informing the teachers about it, took my wounded pride and limped out to the parking lot, got in my car and went home.  When I walked inside I burst into tears.  Partially from the pain, and partially from the embarrassment.  After the hospital, I started my senior year off with a sprained ankle.

Senior year moves on.  At spring break the band took a trip to Disney World, which was awesome.  We got to play at the park.  We also got to go into the Disney recording studios and record a track with part of fantasia.  It was pretty cool.

The rest of the year was devoted to winning the state contest.  Our school hadn't won it in like 10 years which was unfortunate because they used to win it just about every year.
For the contest we played two songs.  One was a march, and the other was a 17 min long variation that featured each section of the band.  We killed it, and won state.

I've been thinking about that a lot lately because I recently got invited via facebook to an even this coming summer to celebrate by old band directors retirement.  He is getting together an alumni band to have a concert this summer.  I don't know why but ever since I got that invite, I've been thinking about my previous band life a lot.   I've been debating doing this or not.  Waiting to see if any of my old band friends were going to do it too.  I'm sure they aren't as several of them are now doctors on the east coast.
I've been cat sitting for my parents this week.  We got dumped with 12 inches of snow yesterday, so had a snow day today.  So i've pretty much just been laying around my parents house today being bored.  I looked through their movie collection and found the tape of our state band competition.  So I guess watching that, and thinking about this alumni band got me feeling a little nostalgic.  -Among other things which I will go into at a later date.

I really don't know why I felt the need to go on this tangent about high school band, I guess its just been on my brain lately.

Updates....the little things

So there isn't really anything major going on right now. That is probably why I haven't posted any updates lately. So I figured I'll just give you the highlights.

-if you haven't ever had a drink called a rocket, you should
-a Wilson family delicacy is hot dog soup (sounds disgusting, but it is delicious)
-Caroline made me a valentine with sparkles on it
-my 6th graders don't know the continents
-you can take the Canadian out of Canada, but you can't take the hockey out of the Canadian
-a rocket is a beer combined with a Smirnoff
-living apart from you husband sucks for many reasons
-the good part of living apart from my husband is that I don't have to watch hockey, or action movies
-I had most of a class answer the question 'what European country first colonized brazil' with native Americans
-hot dog soup is like potato soup but with hot dogs in it(i should have said it was a higham family delicacy as its from my moms side)
-I suggest not using cherry lime Smirnoff in a rocket. Green apple is the best combo and you should all go try it right now
-I told one of my teacher friends that I love my sisters kids more than marks siblings kids...she thought that was bad
-remember when smirnoffs were like the best drink ever?
-I miss California like crazy sometimes
-dear heart has been fairly sane lately...but that could just be that since I don't live there any I don't have to see the crazy
-Colin laughs when I try to tickle him and make silly noises like I'm gonna eat him-this makes Caleb cry.
-you probably shouldn't drink a rocket if your name is Kristin or Erin
-I can't help it if I feel closer to my sisters kids...it's a blood thing
-I feel like I knew all seven continents in elementary school
-this one time I remember drinking by the pool all afternoon and then trying to touch Sophie's boobs
-Caleb is a sensitive little guy. I think he's like me that way
- my 8th graders one day said "that's so fetch". It was a perfect opportunity for me to respond with "youre not gonna make fetch happen". They started cracking up
-when I was a kid I would cry if I spilled something
-I get really angry in my head when I am at somebody's house as a guest and they give me a meal with no napkin
-Sophie's really guarded about her boobs
-if you don't know what 'fetch' means you should watch mean girls(KATHY!)
-I hate getting messy when I eat probably more than I hate anything...hence my anger when not provided with a napkin
-I can always tell there is hockey on TV when I hear my husband yell 'that should have been a penalty'
-I think the Fourth of July 2009 was one of my favorite days
-the last time I ate an orange I almost started crying because its juice was getting all over me. I haven't eaten an orange since, and I don't plan to
-I have enjoyed coaching basketball and getting to know my girls better
-I could really go for some golden spoon right now. And some in n out for that matter
-I have been so fired up at one of our bball games that I had to go home and drink half a bottle on wine to help my anger towards to opposing coach dissipate
-sleeping with my husband in a queen bed is like torture. I need my space
-wink wink...living apart from my husband sucks
-in a related yet unrelated note: when we have kids my in laws are so not allowed to stay with us. MIL has been with Tim and E and just watching them all together with the baby is enough to convince me I can't have her when I have kids. I understand its different for E whose own mother is dying. I will be happy to have my own mama help me
-I am shocked that my husband got me a valentines day present. A one hour massage at a spa
-I can usually find something humorous about the kids everyday...it helps to keep me from going crazy
-mark living with his brother has worked to my advantage...I got a diamond necklace for Christmas and a spa day for valentines.
-in our 5 years together I have gotten one valentines gift from him-but I never bought him anything either. We are more the go out to a nice dinner couple than the present couple
-if you wanna see Sophie get really embarrassed ask her about her boobs-it is quite funny
-I had a nice birthday this year, got a sweater from Riegle part of 5 and a homemade card from Caroline. Mom/dad got me a cast iron Dutch oven that I'm really excited about. Mark and I went out to a fancy steak dinner
-boy that rocket is going through me like crazy. I feel like a racehorse
-I think my favorite bday was my 23rd which was a night out in Hollywood
-Did you catch that racehorse joke? I thought it was funny
-my principal made fun of me one day for a spelling error i made in an email. I informed him that was why i didn't become an English teacher. He thought that comment was funny too
-I believe that I have spewed enough nonsense for one evening. Hope you enjoyed the update! Have a good night kids I love you!

Real life

So I realize that my New Years post was mostly complaining about the nerd party we were at.

So this new year has already been off to an interesting start.

I got our apartment! It is nice. Brand new, bigger than our condo was, and closer to my school.

After that, I decided to change my name. Yeah, yeah, I know. Been married two and a half years and never changed my name. After our honeymoon we crossed the border immediately. So my visa was in my maiden name. Then with all the immigration going on, I didn't want to change it and deal with changing it for immigration. But now that Mark has his green card, I could change my name without too much hassle to immigration.

In other news, while Mark has his green card, he has been working from Ohio. We had been under the impression that he would have to work from Ohio for at least 6 months before the Indiana office could be opened.
But then Thursday happened. On Thursday the boys had a very big meeting with American Standard. They are a company that makes bathtubs and toilets. They got the account! Which means that because of this new business with American Standard, the Indiana office will be opened next month!
Which is exciting and brings Mark to Indiana sooner. It is going to be insane though. Mark will have some very long hours ahead of him.
But it is all good, and means the business is continuing to grow.

I have enjoyed my break from school. Although I have been totally splurging and eating basically crap the past two weeks. I have gained plenty of weight back. I will however be going back on the skinny rules hardcore on Monday.

I am not looking forward to going back to school, basketball games start this week. I am already ready for basketball season to be over.
So I guess that's it for now.
Have a good week friends

New Year, New Chapter

So happy new year everybody!

I figured now was as good a time as any to write a new post. The simple fact being that I am at a nerd New Years party.

Like if you have ever seen the tv show The Big Bang Theory....that is the level of nerdom that surrounds me. In one room my husband and his brother are playing NHL on Xbox.

In another room there is a massive fantasy type board game spread over the dining room table surrounded by a band of nerds talking about things like 'Lancelot cards', 'traitors' , and 'fight cards'.
While four of said people playing this game are normal looking, there are a few that fly the nerd flag with their appearance. For example one young man wearing a black t-shirt that has some deathly looking creature on it with a skull and wings or something ridiculous.

This is the nerd party I am at. There are booze, which can make any nerd party better. However myself, my husband, and my brother-in-law are the only ones drinking. My sister-in-law would be drinking if she weren't 8 months pregnant right now. I am one beer, and half a bottle of wine in.

So I am at least starting to 'feel good' this is by no means my idea of a 'fun' New Years and can't help but think that I wish I was with my friends in California. At this point I would almost rather just go to bed right now (9pm) then stay up with the nerd fest.

So now that we have established my physical surroundings this New Year's Eve, lets discuss my mental state.

Right now I am very excited to see what 2013 will bring. While difficult, I am thankful that 2012 provided Mark with his green card! 2013 should continue to carry us through with 'our plan'.
The plan right now is to continue on with how things are going. Mark working in Ohio until the business is ready to expand to indiana.

Found out today that we officially got the apartment we applied for!! It is a brand new apartment complex that nobody else has ever lived in. It is 10 mins from my school. Signing papers and getting keys on Wednesday.

The rest of the plan for 2013 is to keep on keeping on, hopefully get ready to buy a house, and start a family.
So I am looking forward to what 2013 has to offer.

I am hoping maybe for a trip to Cali in the summer too. I miss my girls like craaaazzzyyy!!
All for now my friends! Happy New Year, I love you.

Fast and Furious

All of the sudden I feel like life is coming at me fast and furious. After I moved from LA I feel like my life has been in a standstill. Just waiting for the day when life looked the way I wanted it to. Now all of the sudden that life is taking shape and I feel like I am just trying to keep up. All if these new life events are exciting, but giving me a lot to do and to think about.
It is crazy to think that in one week mark and I will be in Montreal getting ready for our interview. I can't wait for it to be over and get back to a normal life. I miss him.
In the meantime I've had a lot to do. I bought a car. While very exciting it was a very stressful process. I know we can afford it, I can't help but worry about such a big car payment over the next five years. But I do freaking love our new car and pretty much spent the whole day in it today.
The next step in the game of life is finding a place to live. This is proving difficult. But I know I will find something, it is just hard to make all of these big decisions without mark around.
Everything is great right now, and I know this whole plan is gonna work. It would just be nice to skip some of the stress that goes along with it.
Anyway, here's to exciting changes!

Overwhelmed

At the current moment in time I am a little overwhelmed. Absolutely feel frustrated and a little bit. It is just work stuff that is getting to me today.

The moment I feel all caught up and okay with things all the sudden it comes crashing down.
I am finding it difficult to do everything I new to do as well as create first grade level lessons for my special Ed students.
I feel like they threw IEP's at me and said figure it out...and by the way will jump down your throat when you don't have it all figured out.

It's not really that bad as I make it sound, that's just how it made me feel. So yeah maybe I need to spend more time working on things.
But I'm just overwhelmed and feel a little attacked when nobody prepared me for these things.

Still trying to figure it all out

Some nights

So here is the latest news of my life (which really isn't much)

Since my last post my wonderfully consistent weight loss has hit a snag...or a plateau if you will. It became apparent that my days of losing two pounds a week are over. I think my body has lost as much weight as it can without exercise. So here are my stats. In the middle of June I weighed in at 175 pounds and a size 14. After 3 months of following the skinny rules I now weigh in at 145 pounds giving me a total loss of 30 pounds. Also, I am now coming in at my long lost size 8. Also my large shirts have gone to a medium.
I am not at all upset that I've hit my plateau, because my plateau is right were I'm happy being. Also I know that if I were to start working out I'd be able to lose more. I also am aware that I have relaxed on the skinny rules a bit the past couple weeks.

Last weekend my baby cousin got married. It was a perfectly beautiful day. I decided to let myself go a little bit (diet wise) for her big day. I had the prime rib for dinner with some seriously delicious garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. I also broke with my alcohol rule and decided to enjoy the open bar a bit and had three glasses of wine. On top of that I gave in to the first desert I've had since July 4th, and ate half a piece of the wedding cake. At first I was worried that I'd get home and would step on the scale to find a five pound weight gain. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I didn't gain a pound, or lose a pound but was right were I had been.

So along with my newly rediscovered size I have been spending far too much money buying clothes to go with my new size. The other week my mom and I went to the outlet mall. We decided to go into the Tommy Hilfiger outlet. We didn't buy anything but when we walked out we both were in love.
On a whim today we decided to go back to the outlet mall. We went in Tommy Hilfiger and again fell in love. I found a cute beyond cute sweater that last week was a bit pricey and this week was 50% off. I knew I had to get it. We continued looking and I came out with 2 pairs of pants for work and another shirt. Even dear heart came out with a shirt. Normally I dislike shopping at expensive places like that but I couldn't resist the cuteness and the 40% off signs all over the place.

Not much else to say. This coming week is going to suck. On Wednesday we have a 3 day field trip to southern Indiana. Yes three days and two night with the kiddos from school...I'm so not excited about it. I am just ready for it to be over.

Otherwise fall has officially set in and it is time for the comfy warm clothes.

Tid-bits

Hey friends. So a lot has happened since my last post. I've actually been working the past three weeks. So I thought I would just fill you in on the few things that have stood out to me.

-the people I work with are nice and funny
-I have some interesting little monsters..I mean students
-I have gone to the store three times for white out
-I dropped a basket on my toe at the grocery store yesterday.
-not during my class, but during the English teachers class one of our students picked a scab. It started bleeding. The child then took a goldfish cracker, dipped it in the blood and ate it.
-my toe is bruised from my basket drop and it hurts when I walk
-I like the consistency of taking my lunch to work.
-according to the scale in my parents bathroom, I have lost 30 pounds!
-I eat a Greek yogurt smoothie for breakfast on my way to work. Fruit, Greek yogurt, and water to thin it out. It is my favorite breakfast
-I eat a half sandwich for lunch with ham, cheese and mustard. And an apple. And sometimes a hard boiled egg.
-I have an 11 year old genius in my seventh grade class
-hard boiled eggs are great with lunch cuz they keep me really full for the rest of my afternoon.
-I am going to see mark in four days.
-when he remembers that he knows how to text, he sends me sweet things.
-he wrote '80 plus hours of work this week and I was thinking about you the whole time'
-swoon....if you listen real close you can hear my heart go pitter patter.
-dear heart has an abrasion on her eye. All hell has broken lose.
-Lewis the cat has insisted on meowing like crazy an hour before I have to get up.
-I had a dream about Kenny Chesney this weekend...what does it mean when Kenny doesn't look hot in your dreams.
-he reminded me of kid rock but uglier in my dream.
-who is uglier than kid rock?
-At the beginning of the summer I could barely zip my bridesmaids dress. It is currently being taken in. Whoa.
-I tell Caroline she is my best friend and then proceed to give her lots of kisses
-I like some nights by Fun.
-I have been listening to it on repeat the whole time I've been typing this post
-sometimes I think I want coffee. Then I think that I feel so good after my smoothie that coffee would ruin my smoothie hangover
-sometimes coffee gives my stomach issues. And it makes me sweat.
-the other week I hadn't shaved for a full week. I sent Kathy a picture of my hairy legs.
-it has currently been two days since my last shave... I better get on that by Friday.
-guess I gotta get spruced up for my man.

The end for now. I hope I can have a dream tonight about a hot Kenny Chesney, not a white trash mullet kenny.

Job!!

Sooooo I got a job today!!! I couldn't be happier!!
So the job is at a charter school about 15 mins from my parents house. The school has only been open a couple years so it's still pretty small. That means that I'm the only social studies teacher for the middle school grades(at least I'm pretty sure).
So I will be teaching two 6th grade classes, and two7/8 split classes. That is going to be incredibly challenging, but who cares as long as I have a job!!!

So let me take a minute to brag...
My moms good friend Linda has a son in law who is the assistant principal at this school. So when the position opened up, mom called Linda to reccomend me to her son law. So after I got the call back today saying I got the job, mom called Linda to let her know. Linda told mom that her son in law had already called her. He told her that I 'blew them away'. That is awesome!!!!!

But at the end of the day I know that God was in control. I've prayed so much about it. Then when the interview was happening I didn't even feel nervous, i just felt good! I'm so happy and so thankful!!

Back so soon

I know I just posted yesterday, however I feel like certain events are requiring me to make another post. This evening I was suddenly very mad and in a very bad mood. So I knew I had to take some steps to change my mood. Normally in a situation like that I would reach for some candy, or a glass of wine. However neither of those things are in my diet anymore so I had to come up with healthy ways to deal with my anger.
So here are the things I am thankful for today that helped get rid of my anger:

1) A trip to Target to pick up conditioner and mouthwash
2) A drive down a country road with a cool breeze and the windows down
3) The first night we've had in ages that wasn't hot and humid
4) Said night beckoned me out for a run which felt amazing
5) A cold and refreshing shower
6) Going through a bag of clothes I brought from Canada in search of shorts I could wear to bed
7) Finding said shorts which fit me a lot better than the last time I put them on
8) The following three songs
-Pitbull, Back in Time
-Little Big Town, Pontoon
-Zac Brown Band, The Wind
***If you haven't heard any of these songs I suggest you do it immediately

Anyhow those are the things I am thankful for as they helped get rid of my anger and make me feel better. Have a good night friends

The latest

So I guess that it has been awhile since I've updated you all.
Things are pretty much the same. I spent a week in Ohio because mark was out there working. Seeing him was exactly what I needed. He just melted away all of the stress that I had been feeling, and made me laugh a lot.

The weight loss has been continuing well for me. I am still steadily losing weight. In 5 weeks I have lost 16 pounds and dropped a size. Now I just need to get my running on track and I will really lose weight. It has been too hot (90-100degrees) plus the humidity to run outside. I got up early at 6 one day this week to run, but even that early it was still about 80 degrees. I need to just suck it up and run on the treadmill.
I'm never gonna be ready for this race my sister got me to sign up for.

Otherwise things are good. I've had a couple job opportunities pop up this week. I met with a family that needs a nanny. I think it went well but we shall see. I have a phone interview for a teaching position tomorrow. It's at a charter school close by and I really hope it goes well. Prayers are appreciated. I feel pretty prepared, so just excited to see what comes from it.

I guess that's it for now have a good weekend kids.

Chinese

Who knew Chinese food could be so nasty. Tonight I am babysitting for my cousins and Chinese food was ordered for dinner for me and the kids. It was from a place called jade garden which is where my family has always got our Chinese food. It is always good...until tonight. Tonight was different for me because of the skinny rules.

I bought the book because I wanted something to jump start my weight loss. It certainly did that! It got me thinking about what I've been eating and got me used to eating good things, and gave me no desire for anything else. I can't follow all of what he says exactly, but following it as well as I can I've been able to lose about 10 pounds in two weeks!!

Unfortunately tonight I was faced with Chinese food and no other options. So I figured I'd eat just a small portion and go running tomorrow morning. So I ate my little bit of Chinese and as I took a bite of the egg roll I thought to myself 'this is disgusting'. It didn't taste bad...its that ive been so against anything unhealthy, and haven't eaten anything unhealthy in 2 weeks that it's like my body knew this wasn't something good for me, and became so disgusted by it. I couldn't finish the egg roll.

Now I've just been sitting here and can't stop thinking about how gross I feel. I am definitely ready for tomorrow and going running and cleansing the fried Chinese out of my system.

I never thought there would be a diet plan that would make me so turned off by unhealthy food. I haven't had any cravings for anything bad the past two weeks. Occasionally I've felt like some ice cream would be great. But then I picture myself actually eating it and what it would taste like and I get that disgusted feeling again.

So anyway I am looking forward to how the rest of it all goes. I just have been feeling so good about it all and totally reccomend this book.

Don't know

I don't know what to think anymore. Is any of this right? Is this all going to blow up in my face?

I'm just scared.

Irritated

I'm glad that you get to do whatever you feel like whenever you feel like it.  Don't worry about all those responsibilities that you have, somebody else will just pick up the slack for you.  Leaving your mess for somebody else to clean up is such a crap move.  I am so irritated that you think that you can do whatever you want and shut your responsibilities off for a night, because the mess you left lands on my husband.

Tonight was the one night Mark was going to finally have time to sit down on the phone with me so we could complete some very important immigration paperwork.  But guess what...because of you and your mess this incredibly important thing is being postponed again.

But you know don't trouble yourselves.  I know you don't know or care how your childish behavior effects other people.  You're still a kid so don't worry, us grown ups will clean up your mess again.  You can only crap on my husband so many times before I lose all respect for you.
